Schooling in Perth, WA

Good schools in Perth Australia

Schools in Perth to look at when you emigrate to Australia on a permanent visa.

From a previous migrant's perspective, here is a bit of information about how they looked for schools in Perth, WA:

Once we had our Australian visa (thanks to ASA Consultants!), and got on a plane, and stepped off into nice weather and a more relaxed country, we had a lot to do. We gave ourselves a lot of time to sort out new life in Australia, and we went when our daughter was very young.

This meant that we had plenty of time to look at schools.

Not being any kind of rich family, we still opted for the private schools in Perth.

Why was this? Because even on a 'normal' kind of family of two people working, the private schools in Australia are pretty affordable. When you think of what you are getting, or rather what you are giving your children in return, it is worth it.

It is also about changing your mindset. When you get your visa to Australia, you have the chance to have a new perspective on life, away from old routines or preconceptions. First looking at the cost of private schools, it seems a lot, but if you go to Australia on a skilled Australia visa, or a work visa, then you should be in good demand, and the salary will be above average. If both parents are working, then it should definitely be feasible, as permanent resident visa holders, though of course all cases can be different.

We looked at a few girls schools, and they are all incredibly good.

The culture of the private schools in Australia is not of exclusion, but inclusion - the culture of the classes were clearly good - not that they were impressing us for an open day, but genuinely, the kids we encouraging of each other, and seemed very open and not cynical, like we were used to back home.

St. Hilda's seemed to have the best feel to it, but it's a personal thing - you should visit the schools and just see what gives you the best feel.
